The titles for month two of the FDMC are...
We'll meet back here on March 1st to discuss the next batch of films
Welcome to round two of the Formerly Dangerous Movie Club.
I’m going to assign the three movies today, but this isn’t the place for me to discuss them or lay in my reasoning.
Instead, this is just to tell you the titles. On March 1st, I’ll post a discussion thread where we can dig into the movies, and this time, there’s lots of meat on the bones. I want to see what kind of conversations we have when we put these three together. I’m guessing it won’t all be sunshine and rainbows, and that’s exciting. I want to pick movies that are going to lead to conversation, and that’s what I think we’re going to get from this batch.
First up…
Lee Marvin. Gene Hackman. Sissy Spacek. This one’s wiiiiiiiild.
Next up, we’ve got…
This is the 1995 film by Ulu Grosbard starring Jennifer Jason Leigh, and any time I can come up with a reason to talk about Jennifer Jason Leigh, that’s a good thing.
Finally, let’s wrap it up with…
Having just read that book about the making of Chinatown, I’m in a Nicholson mood, and this one is always worth re-examination.
You’ve got three weeks. Get searching. Get watching. And get back here in three weeks so we can have what I think is going to be a rip-roaring conversation.
