I've seen the trailer for Fighting With My Family dozens of times and I never realized that the lead actor was Florence Pugh. Crazy what jet black hair and some eyeliner can do to change your appearance.
pretty surprised FIGHTING wasn't big. Knew some ppl who were positive it would be way bigger than anyone thought, and then I totally forgot it existed until just now.
Also love Withnail. As a former speed freak this VO is like the greatest description of a drug ever: "Speed is like a dozen transatlantic flights without ever getting off the plane. Time change. You lose, you gain. Makes no difference so long as you keep taking the pills. But sooner or later you've got to get out because it's crashing. Then all at once those frozen hours melt out through the nervous system and seep out the pores"
I’m excited for April’s movie club. I’ve seen all three movies but all are worth a revisit. “Fighting with my Family” was a charming movie and I’m going to seek out “monos”.
I need to rewatch "Monos." I watched it at the Atlanta Film Festival last year, and it just felt as though it meandered too much. It's a gorgeous film to watch, but I had difficulty really getting into it (I don't think I was alone, either; it was the one feature screening that did not get much in the way of applause from the audience). Plenty of people have suggested "Fighting With My Family" at this point so I will check that one out, as well.
Looking forward to the movies for the Movie Club. One is relatively fresh in my head, one I haven't seen in years, and one I haven't seen period.
Sterling choice and I will be weighing in on 1 April. All three films hold a special place for me. And need to watch The Fisher King again. First time since we lost Mr Williams, who is beyond magical in that film. As for Fighting with my Family.....just wonderful. Jack Lowden broke my heart as the brother.
