The deluxe hardcover is actually real thing. They announced the two of them at the same time. Personally I couldn’t wait for the latter and felt the trade paperback was more appropriate.
Great read, as usual, Drew. Happy to hear you talk a little about the Movie Trivia Schmoedown. I've been reading you for a long time and followed you into that league. I've been hooked ever since. It's so ridiculous, and seemed perfectly taylired to me. I always felt you got a little hosed with/by your partners. Even this year. I had hoped you and Ethan would have been the team to destroy the league. I hope you crush it this week!
Once again another great newsletter that leaves me simply itching to see Black Widow next week. That said I have to admit your bringing back up Quentin Tarantino at this point really left me disquieted.
For the last 10 years I’ve found myself growing more and more troubled by both the man and his works. Certain creative choices and patterns I started to notice combined with interviews and the like that I would see or read just left me feeling uneasy.
And now between the stuff he said this week and the details of this book that I’ve read about I just… I can’t deny anymore how repugnant I find him to be at this point; to a degree that no skill at filmmaking can overcome. I don’t begrudge anyone who still enjoys his work but at this point I don’t think I could even bring myself to revisit the older films of his I used to love. *sigh*
