My impossible dream double feature would be the original cuts of The Magnificent Ambersons and Touch of Evil.

My realistic dream double feature would be Alien and Aliens in 70mm with six-track magnetic Dolby Stereo soundtracks, preferably at the Village or Bruin in Westwood.

My dream double feature is an idea I would love to do some day:

Jojo Rabbit and Baby Driver.

Two tonally different movies by two highly creative directors, I’ve felt like they would complement each other nicely with the song and dance ending of Jojo Rabbit segueing nicely into the start of Baby Driver.

Honestly, I get chills thinking about it.

Oh goodness. I really want to list a couple of different pairings. If push comes to shove I’d pick Raiders of the Lost Ark and Saving Private Ryan.

Raiders is a near perfect film for me. It’s a great collaboration between Spielberg and Lucas. I think Harrison Ford is at his peak and his interactions with Karen Allen are amazing. I love John Rhys-Davies’ Salah (don’t get me started on Last Crusade).

Saving Private Ryan is very personal to me. One of my grandmas good friends was a medic at d-day. I will never forget his reaction to that film. And I served in Iraq. That movie hits a spot that...don’t know how to put it into words. Moves me to appreciate the sacrifice that my grandparents generation made while reminding me of my own experience. Cry every time I see it and would love to experience it in the theater again.

Because it has low Lows and high Highs.

Because it was made to see on a big screen.

Because it is so much more with an audience.

Because after so long, I want to stay in the theater as long as DAMN possible...

AVENGERS INFINITY WAR & AVENGERS ENDGAME

So many movies. But if it was for sharing an experience, audience participation and overall stoke it would have to be Avengers Infinity War, followed by Endgame. I (like many people) saw them both on opening night and the energy was crazy. With Infinity War, I was off balance form the first scene; with Thor and Hulk and Thanos, leading into New York... and that ending, totally deflating everyone and I mean everyone. The hope that lead into Endgame, how can they rectify it, (and should they) looking back at older Marvel movies and then *that* ending, which lasted about 45 minutes. An absolutely amazing experience. They are not my two favourite movies but without a doubt they were the best communal cinematic experience of my 39 years.

Casablanca into Porco Rosso. Get similar ideas about the rise of fascism and the part we play, but in radically different yet no less masterfully done ways.

I know these are odd choices - a Christmas movie and a romantic comedy, but Love actually and about time would be my choices. And I think in that order

Love actually to think about the various ways of love and focus on that instead of hate (there is a lot of hate right now...). And about time to remember to find the moments to enjoy each day. Even in these times, there are plenty to enjoy :).

I would love to recreate Fox's actual Halloween 1986 double feature quickie reissue of "Aliens" and "The Fly" (in that order).

Like a lot of other commenters I’d go with Raiders, but I’d precede it with the 1938 Adventures of Robin Hood.

For me it would be Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Empire Strikes Back with Raiders being shown first. They are both tied as my number films and I think they’re the perfect combination. Raiders is a thrill packed serial adventure while Empire has its own thrills but done in a completely different way. It’s more serious and unsettling while still offering exciting high stakes scenes that are all very emotional because it’s all character driven. Love, betrayal, loyalty, and even revenge are all on display from the rebels and the Empire and it doesn’t get any better than this. Both film are crowd pleasers in every way possible and I have no doubt this double feature would sell out. If Disney wouldn’t give me the prints then I’d go with Aliens and Jaws.

After being cooped up like we have, I would need some serious silly laughter. That’s why my double feature would be Airplane followed by Top Secret. Both such hysterical movies, and to share them with an audience would be exactly what I need. How do I make this happen?

Craziest double feature I have ever seen: The Untouchables and Robocop in a dumpy theater in Eagle Rock that's now a church -- possibly the highest body-count I have ever seen in one evening...

Dream double-feature for going back to a theater: Children of Men (Cuarón, 2006) and The Secret of Roan Inish (Sayles, 1994). Both beautifully shot, amazing stories. Tonally they are complete opposites, but both are life-affirming...'cuz that's what I need right now.

Demon Lover & Demon Lover Diary would be amazing. It'll never happen.

I'd go with The Martian and Arrival. Two movies about what can happen when people come together to accomplish something enormous, and how thrilling it can be when it works.

1st - Saving Private Ryan to demonstrate how we've overcome tough odds before & to challenge people to "Earn this". 2nd - Some Like It Hot to send them home with a smile.
