I was way too invested with The Good Place. It’s so rare for me to find a series where I’m just as excited and engaged from episode one, until the curtain closes . I thought there would be no way they could possibly end this series that would not drive me nuts. Boy was I wrong!!
I’ve grown to love each and every character in such different ways. I’ve laughed my heart out, and cried my eyes out over and over again during this amazing show. I can honestly say, even though I’m heartbroken to see it go, the last episode was pure perfection. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️
It's definitely one of the best series finales I've ever seen, that's for sure. Among sitcoms, it's right up there with Cheers and Parks & Rec, if not better.
While I'm glad Schur was able to tell the story he wanted to tell, given that thousands of years (or Bearimy's, if you will) came between the beginning of the end, I wish we could've seen more. I loved spending time with these dummies. I'd have loved to see more of their time in the real Good Place, meeting interesting people from history. I wish we could've gotten a glimpse of Pillboi and Donkey Doug's Bad Place Tests to see how they overcame and got into the Good Place. I actually think it would've been pretty easy for Pillboi, who seemed like a sweet guy who was easily manipulated.
This is easily one of my favorite shows of all time. For me, there was not one false step. It managed to be sincere without being cloying, which is a difficult line to walk. Schur and Daniels managed to go over to the cloying side a few times over on Parks and Rec, but Schur and Amram absolutely nailed it here. Bravo!
This show introduced my GenZ children to Ted Danson. That ALONE would make it worth something.
I can't remember if it was a critic (Sepinwall?), or maybe even Michael Schur himself, who said this, but The Good Place is an antidote to the many (good) anti-hero dramas we've had since The Sopranos. There are other shows in this antidote vein, and I'd like to recommend Schitt's Creek as the next-best example. Imagine a family not unlike Tahani's, but who lose all of their money save a small town Dad bought for Son (played by real father & son Eugene Levy and Daniel Levy), and they get exiled there. Schitt's Creek ends at the beginning of April, and I hope they stick the landing the way The Good Place did.

Such a good show and an amazing ending. Beautiful and heartbreaking.
